Could You Use a Miracle Right About Now?

When I first met Debra Poneman, I didn’t really know what to think. I walked into her home and immediately saw dozens of people–Americans, Indians, what-all–sitting around in chairs, on couches and on the floor chanting in Sanskrit. “Hmmmmm, what have I bumped into here?”

Well, Shree Maa and Swamiji were visiting (their RV was parked in the driveway hooked up to the house’s electricity) and a spectacular spiritual service to the Divine Mother was going on. I loved it, and from then on, I went to Deb’s to meet or see gurus like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Karunamayi, Cealo, Mother Meara, Krishna Das, Devi Vanimali, Swami Chitanand Saraswatiji and Sadhvi Bhagawati. (If you don’t know them all, google!)

Or how about healers like Bill Farber, Thomas Gates or John Newton?

For years I was invited to Deb’s house for Christmas dinner and one year found myself  sitting next to Janet Attwood, author of The Passion Test. Always someone interesting chez Deb.

Unfortunately, I never got to meet Marci Shimoff at Deb’s, I guess I was off doing something else and never made it there. But Deb told me all about their history.

It seems that when Marci was a grad student in the MBA program at UCLA, she went to one of Deb’s Yes To Success programs and was so inspired that, after the weekend was over, she asked Deb whether she could work for her. She’d been Deb’s assistant for about a year when Deb got sick and couldn’t do the program in New York. Marci didn’t have a ton of confidence in public speaking but went ahead nonetheless, stood in for Deb and was a huge hit.

As you probably know, Marci went on to become one of the most successful motivational speakers in the industry. She’s sold over 15 million Chicken Soup books that spent a total of 121 weeks on the NY Times best-seller list, wrote the NY Times best-sellers Happy for No Reason and Love for No Reason and was a featured teacher in the movie The Secret.

While she was doing that, Deb retired to raise her kids (and invited numerous gurus and healers to her house!). But the two women kept in touch all those years and now that Deb’s son and daughter are grown and on their own, she and Marci have reunited and are fulfilling their 30-year-old dream of teaching together again.

Deb recently asked for my editing and marketing opinion on a small part of a program she and Marci are putting together. It’s a free online seminar, The 3 Secrets to Living a Life Filled With Miracles coming up on December 18th at 7PM EST. If looking for miracles in your life, and who isn’t?….this could be just the seminar you need to check out.
